β‘οΈ Being Sick More Often
That is because vitamin D plays an important role in strengthening your body’s immune system. Every single cell in the human body has a receptor for vitamin D.
β‘οΈ Increased Levels of Fatigue
Life can be very busy, and most of us normalize feeling tired pretty much all the time. However, it’s important to remember that ongoing fatigue can seriously impact your quality of life and overall health. There are many causes of increased fatigue, including vitamin D deficiency.
β‘οΈ Hair Loss
Your skin has special cells that are responsible for processing a protein known as keratin which helps metabolize vitamin D in the skin. However, when they aren’t getting enough vitamin D, it causes issues in controlling how your body grows and sheds hair.
β‘οΈ Slow Wound Healing
If you have a wound that is taking much longer to heal than normal, this could be caused by a vitamin D deficiency. Remember that vitamin D plays a key role in helping the body process keratin which is a protein that is vital to the health of our skin.
β‘οΈ Increased Feelings of Depression
Not all doctors agree that vitamin D deficiency can cause increased feelings of depression. However, there is strong evidence that not getting enough of this vitamin can have a substantial impact on your mood.
β‘οΈ Increased Muscle Pain
Every cell in the human body has receptors for vitamin D. This includes the nerve cells that are responsible for sensing pain as well.
β‘οΈ Bone Loss
Many people are unaware that vitamin D is closely tied to calcium absorption. If your body isn’t getting enough vitamin D, over time, your bones may become weaker because they aren’t getting enough calcium.
β‘οΈ Increased Lower Back Pain
Bone weakness is one of the primary causes of chronic lower back pain in adults. Doctors have noticed a significant connection between complaints about chronic low back pain and those with a vitamin D deficiency.
β‘οΈ Weight Gain
Studies have consistently shown that people who have more body fat or a higher BMI also tend to have low vitamin D levels in their system. No one is sure why this happens, but it may be linked to behavioral or genetic factors.
β‘οΈ Erectile Dysfunction
Vitamin D plays a key role in boosting the cardiovascular system and maintaining circulation. A study found a significant link between low vitamin D levels and the severity of ED. Researchers also found that the symptoms are worse in individuals with low levels of vitamin D compared to those with normal.

A commentary by Mayo Clinic Nephrologist Rajiv Kumar, M.D., in the current issue of the journal Kidney International suggests that Vitamin D may improve the treatment of renal disease. Dr. Kumar says that while larger clinical trials are needed, he believes doctors should start treating patients with diabetes who have low serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin (the active form of vitamin D) with vitamin D3 to help slow down the progression of kidney damage. Dr. Kumar cautions that more research is needed and that patients should always consult their doctors before consuming vitamin D supplements on their own. Video Rating: / 5

Lower back pain in a young individual with low vitamin D. low vitamin D can per se not have any direct relation with low back pain. It can cause other muscular weakness, muscular pain. But directly related to the back pain is doubtful. Of late we are seeing lot of Indians with vitamin D deficiency, but of now there is no direct correlation with vitamin D and low back pain.
